WAHEED Mirror (H160 x W90cm)

Polished to a radiant finish, the antique brass of our Waheed mirror frame is embellished with alternating sections of hand-sawn and hand-chased decoration. The former involves the use of a tiny jeweller’s saw to create a minutely detailed floral motif, while the latter involves a precision hammering technique to create a ‘stingray-style’ effect (so-called because it mirrors the densely stippled surface of the creature’s skin). The entire frame is also gently bevelled, which adds to the overall elegance of the piece.

ALIM Side Tray Table

The base of our Alim side table is made up of six foldable legs, with carved mashrabiya-style inserts, all given a distressed limewash-like finish. Resting on this base is a thick gauge circular brass tray with a broad raised lip, decorated with a hand-chased geometric design. Polished to a bright, light-toned patina, it combines with the base to create a piece blessed with a crisp, vibrant personality.

The pale limewash-like finish of our Ahsan side table gives it a fresh modern feel that manages to sit comfortably beside its traditional hand-crafted mashrabiya woodwork. Its tray-style table top is made with a thick high-quality gauge of brass, which has been hand-chased with a geometric motif – a centuries-old process that involves precision-hammering the metal to create a design in low relief. Showcasing our ability to bring traditional craftsmanship to the most modern of settings, our Hajiz red carpet rope barrier is a beautifully tactile piece of design. Sitting on a splayed plinth, it boasts a four-sided tower of delicately hand-carved antique brass, topped with a magnificent rounded finial. Adorned with a variety of geometric, latticed, floral and medallion-style motifs, the structure is completed with two side rings on to which a decorative rope can be hooked to form a visually arresting barrier.

JANIB Side Table

Named after the Arabic word for ‘beautiful’ or ‘handsome’, our Janib side table is thoroughly deserving of the description. Deeply recessed within an octagonal frame of solid antique brass, its table top bears thousands of tiny hand-made incisions that combine to form a dazzlingly intricate floral motif. The same decorative effect is seen on the eight side panels, each of which has a traditionally contoured arch carved between its feet.

Showcasing the woodworking prowess of our maalem, our Mahfur side tray table draws on both Souri and Masri mashrabiya latticework – the former originating in Syria and the latter in Egypt. Constructed from kiln-dried beech wood, the exquisitely carved octagonal base supports a circular tray wrought in a handsomely thick gauge of antique brass. We can also produce this piece in timbers such as oak or walnut and with a range of finishes.
