ALIM Side Tray Table

The base of our Alim side table is made up of six foldable legs, with carved mashrabiya-style inserts, all given a distressed limewash-like finish. Resting on this base is a thick gauge circular brass tray with a broad raised lip, decorated with a hand-chased geometric design. Polished to a bright, light-toned patina, it combines with the base to create a piece blessed with a crisp, vibrant personality.

AHSAN Side Tray Table

The pale limewash-like finish of our Ahsan side table gives it a fresh modern feel that manages to sit comfortably beside its traditional hand-crafted mashrabiya woodwork. Its tray-style table top is made with a thick high-quality gauge of brass, which has been hand-chased with a geometric motif – a centuries-old process that involves precision-hammering the metal to create a design in low relief. Available in any height and diameter of upto 100cm

AKIF Side Table

In Arabic, the name ‘Akif’ denotes ‘one devoted to worship’, which makes it ideal for this side table, which carries multiple echoes of religious Islamic architecture and decoration: each of its eight side panels, for example, bears a carved dome-like aperture, while its inlay of bone includes repeated use of a crescent moon. Taking full advantage of the tonal richness of walnut (and its contrast to the bone inlay), the table is given added texture and depth with the use of sections of recessed panelling.

‘Touched with love’ – that is the meaning of the name we felt compelled to give to our Dalal side table. It is a piece that has been lavished with the care and talents of the maalem in our specialist woodwork atelier – every inch of its octagonal frame hand-carved with a mesmerisingly detailed blend of floral and geometric motifs. Set within this relief work, and offering a beautiful tonal contrast, are hand-carved pieces of mother of pearl, arranged to create a harmonious array of elegant decorative devices.

SALAM Coffee Table

Drawing on two complementary wood-turning techniques – one perfected in Syria, the other in Egypt – our Salam coffee table also features hand-carved sections such as the square panels on the side and the floral bands at its base. Making striking use of mashrabiya-style latticework on its artfully tessellated table top, this is a piece that demands and deserves admiration. It can also be produced in timbers such as oak or walnut, and with a range of different finishes.

Showcasing the woodworking prowess of our maalem, our Mahfur side tray table draws on both Souri and Masri mashrabiya latticework – the former originating in Syria and the latter in Egypt. Constructed from kiln-dried beech wood, the exquisitely carved octagonal base supports a circular tray wrought in a handsomely thick gauge of antique brass. We can also produce this piece in timbers such as oak or walnut and with a range of finishes.
