Creating an experience through lighting
At Moroccan Bazaar we understand how different lighting fixtures create unique experiences. Internationally renowned hotel, Hilton Tangier Al Houara Resort & Spa is one such example.
We were selected as the preferred lighting partner that would adorn the interior and exterior of this heritage hotel. We worked closely with WATG and presented many light fittings from our extensive range before determining the lighting used within the hotel. The end result was a synergy of beautiful style and function, which emphasised the uniqueness of the property, whilst still blending in with its location.
Selecting the Appropriate Furniture, Fittings and Lighting Equipment
With Moorish architectural elements of middle eastern influence throughout the hotel, it was important to choose lighting fixtures that were in keeping with them and the location, whilst also enhancing the unique beauty and style of the hotel.
Having previously worked with the team at WATG, they were aware of the bespoke possibilities, in addition to the standard range we had on offer. Together we examined up to 100 different fittings within our collection.
The selected fixture was a Kawkab ceiling pendant, a style commonly seen in middle eastern cities such as Riyadh and Abu Dhabi. The spherical design of these pendants, as well as their ability to provide 360 degrees of illumination, made them an excellent option for placement throughout the hotel. They were made in a multitude of sizes and scales, reflecting in many different diameters.
A Traditional Fixture with a Contemporary Flair
One of the traits which defines the Hilton Tangier Al Houara Resort & Spa is its unique blend of traditional and modern. Therefore it was important this quality existed within the lighting fixtures.
To create this, our team included a contemporary pattern on the exterior of these lights. These shapes would cast patterns, fitting in with the design across the floors, walls, and ceilings, providing opulence and vibrancy within the rooms. All patterns were hand sawn, crafted by our skilled master artisans and assembled by technicians to ensure the final designs exuded quality.
In addition, we made beautiful hand sawn, flush ceiling mounted fixtures and wall lights were placed throughout the corridors of both the east and west wings of the hotel. To create these stunning pieces, we worked with internationally renowned lighting designer, MBLD (Maurice Brill Lighting Design). Across the entire project we produced over 2,000 hand sawn, engraved fixtures.
Catering to Unique Lighting Requirements
Different areas within the hotel required unique lighting solutions. For instance, the exterior lighting was designed in such a way to prevent swaying in the wind, as it was situated on the Atlantic coastline. On the interior, Kawkab lights were manufactured in six different sizes to allow for the type of room. The result was a stunning level of illumination that reflected the unique identity of each room within the hotel, whilst maintaining its middle eastern traditions.
