In The Detail
Showcasing the hand-carving prowess of our maalem, our Qahua coffee table draws inspiration from the beautiful latticework of mashrabiyas – the enclosed balcony windows that feature so heavily in the Islamic world. The square-shaped, glass-covered table top is assembled from a dozen interlocking latticework panels decorated in two complementary styles – one Syrian in origin, the other Egyptian – with another dozen used to create the table sides. Each side is then completed with the addition of a five-arched base panel decorated with a sinuous hand-carved floral motif. We can also offer this table in a range of other exotic timbers such as oak or walnut, and with whatever finish you prefer.
